Been a while since econ 101 but I think tariffs are calculated as a cost of production shifting the supply curve to the left and also decreasing demand which shifts the demand curve to the left as well which should result in a nearly net zero impact for the company itself.

Anecdotally, avocado prices have plummeted in Canada due to American demand “decreasing” resulting in excess supply.

It’s just one source but it looks like avocados are the highest price they’ve ever been in Canada.

That’s actually wild. I don’t doubt it because more than a few wrenches were tossed into the supply chain but avocados in my specific city have been dirt cheap for a few months

        https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/your-fresh-market-organic-avocados/6000196795547?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1600

Apparently in Toronto you can get 4 organic avocados at Walmart for $7 (or maybe less than US$5).

800 grams for $7 is $8.75/kilo or $6.37US/kilo which is right in that chart I posted’s range for the last four weeks so I don’t know what you are trying to say here.

Yeah, but they say they’re organic.

                https://www.foodbasics.ca/aisles/fruits-vegetables/fruits/avocadoes-exotic-fruits/bag-of-avocados/p/033383401508

Apparently at Food Basics, until next Wednesday at least, a bag of 5 is selling for $4.88.

                https://www.foodbasics.ca/aisles/fruits-vegetables/fruits/citrus-fruits/navel-oranges/p/033383119427

and a 3 lb bag of oranges is $5.98 (or maybe less than US$4.20).
