It’s also moldy advice. I recall this one getting tossed around back in the 1980’s, by parents that absolutely went from zero responsibility to paying taxes on salary and a house, just after graduating High school. Things are very different now.

It’s not even true for boomers. I’m (barely) a boomer and I’m much more liberal than when I was young, even though I have more money.
