Did they replace the writers from season 11?
That is the only season I skip on my eternal rewatching loop for relaxing before bed.
There were a few good episodes, the Santa time travel one, the multiverse one, the mom Corp one. I liked the dune one even though it’s got mixed reactions.
That episode 9 was a fucking train wreck, however.
What one was episode 9 about?
Garbage. It was the one with multi parts, with the weird through line where Leela was trying to marry some handsome pig dude or some nonsense.
Ah, the prince and the product, where they have weird ad-style sections with the characters
Yeah I don’t mind season 11 besides episode 9 I skip every time. Mostly ok but a few good ones.
Personally found the first 2 to be bad, and 9 to be unwatchable.
I think 11 would’ve been a lot better if it had come out in 2021. In 2023 all of the COVID themes were really played out.
Hopefully 12 wasn’t written 3 years ago.
That’s a weak defense of the season. The thing that made a lot of the classic episodes classics is that they are more or less timeless. If releasing the episode a year or two later means it’s not going to land well, then they should be rethinking the writing.
A great example is the iPhone episode. Its a bad episode because the premise was hardly interesting even when it was relevant, and it hasn’t aged well at all.
I’m not saying it would’ve been a masterpiece, it just would’ve been a lot more enjoyable.
Completely agree. It was lads gaga on a train levels of terrible
Original run writers room had a math phd, chemistry phd, and comp sci phd on the team. I think that’s why any of the post cancellation seasons fail to capture the wit of the first run.
It felt like they were trying to turn Futurama into an animated sitcom, rehashing other shows. The characters barely had the essence of the previous seasons, and advertising was really shoved down our throats.
