    1. Their IT guys spent a lot of time setting up their instance and aren’t willing to give it up
    2. Their IT guys found something interesting to do for once, and aren’t willing to give it up
    3. Control and not depending on zucc for your engagement

        I was half joking but honestly it’s an experimental project, and they’re doing the brunt of the work.

    Well I certainly didn’t have “the BBC self hosts their own federated social media” on my 2023 bingo card.

    I’m profoundly uncomfortable with the BBC doing anything I’d describe as based.

    Here’s to hoping Tumblr actually gets on the activitypub train someday as well.
