Eight pieces of jewellery stolen from the Louvre have been found safe and sound inside the British Museum, French police have confirmed.

The world-famous Louvre museum in Paris was forced to close on Sunday following reports of a robbery, though luckily the stolen items have now been recovered after police found them inside the British Museum.

“How did they get in there?” said Simon Williams, curator of the British Museum.

“It came as a real shock to everyone because obviously we would never steal something that belongs to someone else. Everything you’ll find here is completely and utterly 100% British. I genuinely have no idea how those pieces of jewellery made their way into our display cases. […]
