Not really, it’s still the same architecture they just removed the ports.
Every Wii can still play GameCube games via Nintendont because the architecture is the same, just with extra features.
The reason that programs like Nintendont are needed in this case is because they add in the extra input controls so you can use Bluetooth, classic controllers, or even USB GameCube controllers in the games.
That is great to known, I never had a Wii Mini and lot of the information on the web regarding this seem to be outdated or wrong.
Last information I had was that backwards compatibility is completely missing with the mini.
