Nobody uses the word “woke” earnestly anymore. It’s either the pejorative yer dad or uncle uses to refer to anything and everything they don’t like (see previously; “politically correct” and “hippie”), or it’s deployed facetiously making fun of anyone who uses it as a stop-gap to actually expressing what they mean. Frankly, I’m a little tired of it. I’d like to see it put in the ground where it belongs.

So, I say we shift the connotation one more step. Woke shouldn’t just mean “this person has left(ish) politics I don’t like”. It should mean “this person makes politics their whole personality, left or right”. Woke should mean someone who’s very vocal about the political, without actually being politically active.
