No one likes to hear it, but our selfish, transactional, solely self-interested politicians are a reflection of our values. A bunch of temporarily embarrassed millionaires dreaming about their turn to live large and punch down don’t make for much of a society.
This is what America values in practice:
Never trust people in suits. If they have to look good it’s because they’re doing something bad.
Sunday best. Business suits. Yep, this is accurate.
Truer words have never been spoken. We’re disgusting, shameful.
“It has always seemed strange to me…The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.” ― John Steinbeck, Cannery Row
Is that dude handing out nugs?
I would not call a single person in Succession a role model.
Oliver Stone didn’t consider his similar to the succession crew villain Gordon Gecko a role model, yet He’s received letters over the years from MBAs and aspiring traders thanking him for creating their role model.
The succession characters shouldn’t be seen as role models, yet their characters are based on what Is viewed as the most successful class of people in America.
Money loses meaning when you realize that your life is temporary. All this idolizing the rich is the cause of boredom, normal people are the ones out of here, from internet, memes and news.
There is no politician that would ever get my vote just the fact alone that theyre politicans is enough as there has never been a purely good one there has never been a worlds richest man that decided to give all his money to make a real difference in the world either.
Maybe stop judging people by how they dress/look instead?
Woosh
And all three of those groups are filled with the most terrible people imaginable.
Humans are inherently evil and the sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be.
