The Hu are pretty awesome. Blast me some sweet Chengis Khan.
I played their version of The Trooper on my radio show last week. Seemed go down very well indeed.
Throat singing is cool. Try blasting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_noise instead.
Try Qawwali devotional music or traditional Balinese music
on the topic of music… the title of the post makes me think about one song in particular
Mongolian throat singing is nothing.
Gotta whip out modern classical music.
I like studying to Penderecki myself.
I know, I know: “it’s a shitpost…” But there’s not a single type of music that sounds better at full blast. And if you inflict your music on others in public instead of using headphones, you’re an asshole.
Grunge sounds way better on full blast imo.
But yeah, people who use speakers in public are assholes.
Classical music. Classical music sounds better at full blast. Anything with either organ or orchestra. Blast it.
I saw the London Symphony Orchestra play Holst’s The Planets at the Royal Albert Hall at the weekend. We were sat right up by the organ pipes, so when they started rumbling it was absolutely incredible.
10/10
There’s a special place in hell for any person playing any sound loudly in public places. Recently there was some dude scrolling TikTok at full blast in the train. I’d rather have any form of continuous music over that distracting bombardment of random sounds.
In Ireland, we’ve recently introduced fines for that sort of thing.
Are they applied?
People do that shit in restaurants here, its so bad.
If you use open backed headphones, you can enjoy your music at its best quality while also sharing it to other people sharing your bus. Win-win!
All my homies love the Hu.
Came to make sure someone had mentioned The Hu
Introduced to them via Star Wars.
Yuve yuve yu.
We have both kids of music here, Country and Western.
Popeye was a Tuvan:
I’d really like to see a “where are they now” for that trio of actors who did this photoshoot. I’m sure someone interviewed them for a “I was in a meme” video…
i do like The Hu.
Started a YouTube Music ‘radio’ list based on Avenge Sevenfold’s ‘The Wicked End’ in the operating room a few weeks ago, and after a couple hours of the algorithm digging its own rabbit hole, it phased itself out of that kind of alternative rock in favor of The Hu and viking sea shanties and just weird shit leading to weirder shit.
Fuckin loved it. Doc wasn’t a fan; circulating nurse thought it was funny and refused to change it. 10/10.
I also work in an OR and Spotify does the same thing. We will just leave on something like 80s rock radio playing over night and when we come back the next morning we hear Snoop Dogg blasting from the same playlist lol
Wolf totem is balls to the wall amazing. Will change the mood of any room/car instantly for the good.
Wolf totem is one of my gym music!
I like Tengger Cavalry
They were supposed to open for Iron Maiden when I saw them last year but had equipment issues or something and couldn’t play :( I was looking forward to seeing them. Their music is sick.
Tibetan throat singing is some good shit.
Add a dash of DAW and it becomes an incredible fusion of old and new
Mongolian metal is wicked but the people on the train hate it
For a while I listened to techno combined with Mongolian throath singing, it was pretty good actually.
Otyken?
Ummet Ozcan is worth a listen
Both bangers
I (not Indian) used to play Hindi film music on my stereo at college at top blast. It’s actually very listenable overall, but the women singing in falsetto can be hard to get used to – it is one of the most penetrating sounds on earth. Everybody on my floor hated the living shit out of me.
Better than country
Hick Hop
Better than the “country” they play on the radio, without a doubt. That shit with lyrics like " I fucked my truck and my wife got mad. My dog wanted to join but we were banging her dad" all deserves the flush.
He’s definitely not a strictly country artist, but check out Lord Huron. Bag of Bones is a good starter. He wouldn’t be making the music he does if it wasn’t for the country artists that came before, and he’s pushing the genre in some real Modest Mousian directions in the best of ways
u havent actually listened to country then
Country was supplanted by stadium country like 20 years ago.
That’s a low bar…
