Great article! I wonder if I’m queer myself or perhaps non-binary. Regardless, I highly recommend reading this, especially if you love classical music or are queer yourself (but, of course, officially for now I am a cishet male so I maybe I’m wrong about the article’s quality or genuineness). But yes, do give it a read if you want to sometime. Also, let’s of performers to read from here and lots of groups to follow.
Take care!
Wasn’t the history of classical music gay as well?
Boy do I hate the word “queer.” It literally means something that is off-key, wrong, and out of kilter. That it has now replaced “gay” as the monker for identifying LGTBQ is not just alarming, but extremely unwelcome. I’m gay myself (though I still don’t think the word ‘gay’ really tells a single thing about me at all).
Call me weird, call me different, call me Ishmael, call me a cab - but don’t call me late for supper and DON’T call me “queer.” I’m probably a lot more un-queer than 99 percent of the people out there. There is nothing broken about me, I’m not wrong, and I’m not out of kilter.
I’m gay precisely because everything about my life is sheer perfection (if I do say so myself and I often do).
