I come up with the best ideas only when I’m extremely sleep deprived

https://strawpoll.com/1MnwOW2G5n7

I will share the final results in a few days, probably on Friday

        • Agender is close. Gender apathetic. I have M on my state ID but whatevs. While I can feel humiliation, I don’t feel emasculation. But recently seeing the degree that trans folk know they are their gender identity (and also seeing alpha male types who look masculine to us but can’t seem to be butch enough for themselves, it’s like seeing my queerness as lensing of stuff behind a black hole.

I could pass as cis-het except that I’m an ASD misanthropic goblin, so I exude a bit odd wherever I go.

Oh I love that. I’m a bit odd too :3 Right now I just dress kinda… cutesy queer with florals and patterns and lots of colors.

I think, I’m a trans binary female but there is always a bit of wiggle room. I wanna express it in a tomgirl sort of way. A lot of my fashion icons rock male cargo shorts, for example. But I won’t like, ever tell anyone this. Because I want to be socially affirmed as female, and only visually express the details.

I’ve also heard of this sort of black hole feeling you are talking about! I think gender apathetic is a great word for it.

But if you can’t feel emasculation, try on this dress 😋 why pass as male? Why pass as human?

I don’t think I’ve worn dresses, but I’ve certainly worn skirts and sarongs, more because of the clime and because I was in jammies mode. I have walked dogs in such attire and gotten funny looks for my effort.

Funny thing, I have passed as non-human before playing Left 4 Dead years and years ago. In my resistance to going vox, I had created hot-keys for common dialog bits (calling special infected, calling when I’m going to set off a crescendo event, dealing with witches, etc.) And took advantage of the medium to spell things out, so I was able to engage in most dialog quicker than typing. So others assumed I was a very smart bot.

Questioning people belong in the LGBT+ community so I guess you answer “LGB…” for sexuality and/or “Prefer not to answer” for gender identity.

Still not ideal; another reason why the poll I suggested in a previous comment is better.

I immediately thought about how this seems like weak glowlie bait, but it’s most likely not

I’m a 6’8 Malaysian body builder living in California, I make Ramen plastic for a living, and on the week ends I bench press homeless people for tips

TIL. No idea how it relates to the post so consider me clueless.

        glowie (plural glowies)

(Internet slang, derogatory, far-right) A government agent or informant infiltrating an online political space, with the supposed intention of surveilling violent extremists or provoking entrapment.

well, you said yourself how it relates to this post in your definition, an agent who is doing some kind of surveillance to better understand a group, usually to control them, villify them, etc. the trouble is, most of the time this kind of work is done not against extremists, but activists and minority groups like us so they can oppress us and strip away our rights

Is that more cost effective to the budget than just a 20¢ cup of ramen? Or is it that it looks better on camera than the real thing like using mashed potatoes for ice cream commercials?

It’s significantly more expensive, they write it off on their taxes as charity, as all proceeds go to the homeless people I bench press

This doesn’t make any sense, you guys have to vote for gender AND for orientation. The percentage of cis to non cis doesn’t make any sense when it’s mixed into the orientation block of straight, queer etc. Should have been 2 polls

Can you be gay and cis? Yes. But your chart will show my vote for both as two people and Split me in half. The chart mashes together two different topics: gender identity and sexual orientation. Some people will only vote for one of the two, some will vote for both, since we all fall into a category in both of them. The chart shows every vote, without differentiation between the two and between what a single person has voted.

You can put 2 questions in one poll: both required but with “prefer not to answer” as an option:

        1. What is your gender identity?
          • Cis (non-trans)
          • Trans
          • Non-binary / Genderfluid / Agender / Questioning / etc.
          • Closeted
          • Prefer not to answer
        2. What is your sexuality?
          • Straight
          • Lesbian / Gay / Bisexual / Ace / Queer / Questioning etc.
          • Closeted
          • Prefer not to answer

        Any objections? Is this confusing/non-inclusive?

Edit: as with any poll involving these topics, you never know if you’ve missed any options (even if “etc.” is available) so it’s best to get a sample of the LGBT+ community & general population and ask them if they have objections.

Gonna be honest, didn’t realize “straight” wasn’t a subset of “cis” and needed to also be specified.

Cis simply means you identify with your gender assigned at birth; it doesn’t really impact your sexuality. For example, you could be a cis gay man, which is not straight.

Straight = heterosexual, Cis (short for cisgender) = someone who identifys with the gender assigned to them at birth i.e. anyone who is not transgender

Why the downvotes? Schools in lots of places don’t teach LGBT+ vocabulary and not everyone is interested enough to look it up. Many have never needed to answer anything other than “male/female/other” for gender, and very few people use the word “cis” to identify themselves, so it’s OK to not know ithe term.

Edit: my school was rather progressive but I still can’t remember being taught the term “cis” in sex ed at 12 years old and I only found out when I started seeing LGBT+ memes online and became an ally 5 years later.

Another reason why the poll I suggested in the previous comment is better.

I’m not really a fan of including gay and lesbian Alongside Asexual, doesn’t really feel right considering how different they are.

So I’ll just list them out here

Don’t feel too bad, I get that this Poll was meant to be broad, the answers just don’t exactly apply to me the way its laid out.

it was meant to be like, are you lgbtq or not, with the exception of gender identitys because those had a seperate option, so really, ace is there because 1. i didnt know how to word it so the ones i wanted are included and 2. my fellow ace gigachads deserve some representation because we get basically none
