At a minimum you guys could at least attempt to understand the argument.

Tl;DR: “School choice” is as good for freedom as the Patriot Act was for privacy. It’s a bullshit label to cover for the fact that the actual policy ends up fucking over society by under funding already struggling schools and instead giving the money to corporations that already have too much power.
School choice is also de facto segregation. The parents who don’t really have a choice for which school their kid attends are effectively stuck with what they have: an under-funded, under-staffed, under-performing school system that leaves their kids behind.
Her argument is illogical.

This is why liberals look confused to people. They scream we want to be more like Europe then scream when we want to be more like Europe.
If a community is under funded then it’s that community fault. Tax them more but don’t tax me to pay for other areas.

This is a strawman. Quit trying to put words in my mouth.
If a community is under funded then it’s that community fault.
Not really. There are housing developers and real estate orgs that intentionally destroy neighborhood housing value for their own profit. The lower house prices mean that local schools go underfunded because of how property tax is tied to school funding.

On top of that, marginalized demographics do not have the generational wealth required to get better jobs, meaning they can’t bear the burden.
Tax them more but don’t tax me to pay for other areas.
Fuck that. No school should be left behind because of some made up failure to pull up bootstraps that don’t exist.
Piss away your vote if you like, but I’m going to vote to keep society educated. I don’t want to live in a world of uneducated assholes, especially considering how big of a factor education is in crime rates.
The local communities can vote a tax in.
Fuck that. No school should be left behind because of some made up failure to pull up bootstraps that don’t exist
It’s not my job to pay another schools upkeep. I pay for the schools in my area. Raise taxes in that community to pay for their schools. It’s that simple.
Each community needs to pay for the services for their community.
The local communities can vote a tax in.
I already addressed that:
“On top of that, marginalized demographics do not have the generational wealth required to get better jobs, meaning they can’t bear the burden.”

I can’t fathom why somebody would want higher crime rates. Failing to educate the public leads to higher crime rates.
Republicans truly are the party of crime.
I already addressed that:
No, you didn’t. You made some weird strawman argument. The residents can increase the tax by vote. They can create a minimum tax per unit. They can declare rental commercial property with high taxation. There are a plethora of things they can do.
I can’t fathom why somebody would want higher crime rates. Failing to educate the public leads to higher crime rates.
Easy, I pay for more law enforcement and we just keep them incarcerated. That is my solution to the problem. If someone wants better schools, pay for them. In return, I am willing to pay for more police to keep the poor people away from me.
we just keep them incarcerated.
How very freedom. We are number one in prisoners per capita. Land of the Free my ass.
Any system that intentionally increases crime, prisoners per capita, and cost is a bad system. There are alternatives that reduce all three. But it requires everyone investing in education.
How very freedom. We are number one in prisoners per capita. Land of the Free my ass.
We have lots of criminals. They should be in jail or prison to keep society safe.
Nobody is intentionally increasing crime. That’s a strawman. If they they want better education. Pay for it. It’s that simple. It’s not my job to pay for everyone’s education. I pay for the education in my area.
Well I happen to think public schools in the USA are some of the best schools In America.
But school privitization is a purely ideological fever dream of Milton Friedman who believed that the profit driven free markets are the most efficient at doing everything, and that the only social responsibility of business is to increase its profits. This makes sense ifor widget factories and pottery barns, but not public services, not childcare and not the education of a nation’s citizens. Efficiency is not the most important metric of success if it means making services unaffordable or unavailable to portions of the public. A profit seeking school could deny service to learning disabled or neurodivergent children. Trying to make a profit in cases like this would probably mean more government intervention, and the results are usually less beneficial to the public than the government services provided in the first place.
Anyway, private schools aren’t any better than public schools. https://www.jacksonville.com/story/special/special-sections/2018/07/27/study-private-schools-not-better-at-educating-kids/11260129007/
Good thing the US is a constitutional republic then!
The only thing school choice undermines is the justification for her office.
They get so confused about what a Republic is. It’s exactly why I support school vouchers. They don’t understand our government and get basic biology confused. Why I sent my kid to a private school.
Putting my 4 kids through private school costs alot, but it’s well worth it.
Well worth it. At public school a teacher told her she was bisexual. She is not. My kid is straight as an arrow. Nothing wrong with other orientations but she is straight. A teacher should not push that crap on kids. Not their place. We put her in a Christian private school and non of are religious. She got to be a kid and have fun. The school focused on education and not gender or sexuality. Almost all the kids went to college afterwards and few went into trade unions. None of them we lost in what to do with their lives.
