[The hyprland maintainer] compared himself to Terry Davis.

Ouch… I hope he grows out of that quickly, for his own sake.

Always hurts seeing people abuse open source projects for drama, personal agenda, general trolling or hating on people. I really don’t get that dynamic. Can’t they have their toxic communities somewhere else? And just concentrate on whatever that project is about while on Github? I get that some people have mental issues. Or struggle empathizing with people or emotion in general. But most nerds I know (me included) will happily focus on technical challenges and hate all the drama because it only interferes with that. I also (after reading the article) get that leadership sometimes are nerds themselves and not necessarily the people equipped to handle those things best… But who are all those people fuelling that internet-drama? Do they even contribute to the open source projects they’re actively destroying?

EDIT: Also read the counterstatement @Skyflare@discuss.tchncs.de linked.

I mean. You install it and the first you see is a picture of a child in a sexual context dressed with an oversized boyfriend shirt and naked legs.

Having nothing against young people having “sexy” mangas as wallpaper but for a fresh installed DE it’s at least for me a sign to not use the software at all.

The phrases in the docs about how bad sway is, just completed the picture.

Idk. But it’s not a picture, it’s a drawing. I agree you typically don’t have backgrounds with manga girls in a professional context. I’m not a pro when it gets to pop culture, but I think it’s pretty tame. Every anime girl looks about that age (say school-girl). And they all have large colorful eyes. This one is wearing a boyfriend-style shirt. I don’t think it’s any more ‘sexual’ or ‘child’ than sailor moon or any of the tv series out there.
