The 2nd gen with the V6 was pretty amazing actually. As was its sister the Mazda MX-6. The KLDE and KLZE engines were pretty cool engineering.

My classmate had a probe back in the 90’s. I vaguely remember thinking it was a cool looking car. It wasn’t nothing special to drive though.

Three guys are talking, the first guy says “I’m an astronaut, so I drive a Saturn.” And the second guy says, “Well, I am a pimp, so I drive a cheap Escort.” And the third guy says, “I got you both beat. I’m a proctologist, so I drive a brown Probe.”

Had a 96’ GT. Was a pretty fun car. Looked great

93 Ford Probe SE, 4cyl Auto was my first car at 16 years old, had ~70k miles on it when I bought it. Spent like 5k on it.

But once it hit 100k, it started falling apart.

I had one of the first versions. It was a pretty car. Reliable and relatively fast for the era. It was supposed to replace the Mustang but they changed their mind.

Ahh, I got hit by one of these. I was cycling home from school and I cycled by this T-intersection, which for some reason has 7 meter high hedgerow and a lot of foliage. I always take move to the middle of the road to give me option if a car were to burst out.

I hadn’t expected the car to be understeering heavily towards the outside of the corner. Luckily because I was on the road’s axis, I could lift up my legs as the car smashed my bike out from under me, I managed to curl up into a ball, protecting my head. My backpack smashed the windshield, which span me into a flip. Landed on my head, around which I had my hands wrapped, dislocated my pinky and scraped the hell out of the back of my hand, which then started bleeding quite well.

I stood up (carefully), and the guy in the Probe was wide-eyed, almost crying, he thought he’d killed me. Called insurance, swapped information, the incident fetched me 1500 euros and a new bike.

My parents wanted to settle for more, but the dude was clearly not the best-settled man, so I asked for less, I wasn’t hurt enough to claim 4k…

TL;DR: I got hit by one of these, did a good thing and didn’t extort the guy.

Ford also had an escort at that time. Not sure what was wrong with their marketing department.

I used to think this car was Soo cool as a little kid. Didn’t know a damn thing about it besides the Make and model. I knew it wasn’t a high end sports car but the design still got me. The Ford emblem always went well with the front of the car to me, idk

This was the first car designed by women. It was marketed to them also. Additionally many design principals in the interior are founding principals of the field of OT. I had the chance to test drive once and it is amazing how ergonomic it all is.
