As a seller on eBay, the return label process is super quick. Like 2 clicks and send you a label via eBay/email. Definitely scamming you here by trying to send without an official return label.

If you haven’t filed for a return through eBay, do that now. Follow the prompts and don’t communicate at all outside of eBay messenger.

But you don’t need to use ‘official’ return labels, he is still covered by ebay as long as he can prove postage. Seller is totally correct that a return label printed through ebay will not be insured.

As a seller on eBay myself I’d never ask a buyer to go outside of ebay for a return under any circumstance. It’s not hard in the slightest to initiate returns either so 100% he’s trying to get one over you. Cover your butt and only return once it’s all been initiated via ebay and a return label sent to you.

I sell on Ebay all the time. How is he scamming him? Ebay will cover the return regardless of which label or courier you use, as long as you can prove it’s been returned via tracking. Where is this scam? He is 100% correct in saying ebay wont insure the return postage.

Don’t do it, eBay can’t track the order and it’s most likely you’ll send it back and never hear from the person again. They’ll most likely receive the faulty item and then proceed to sell it to someone else using the same scam

Not shady at all when a seller wants to do things outside of Ebay. Screw that guy…he has so many days to do something about it and then Ebay gets involved. Just stick with that.

Request a return through eBay, have the seller approve it and upload the label. If he doesn’t send the label through the return request in 3 day, eBay will have you open a case. You definitely do not want to lose buyer protection.

General rule: anyone on eBay asking you to do something outside of eBay is trying to scam you.

Never do anything outside of the platform you bought something from.

There’s a reason Ebay has return policy’s in place, and it’s so that everything that happened is tracked and clear. If you go around Ebay, they can’t help you when anything happens or when the seller decides to not be honest about things.

I know I’m late but as others have said it’s a scam. Go through ebay. At least where I am, UK, the seller HAS to cover the cost of return either with a prepaid label or at the least, sending you the funds to buy the label. If they fail to do that, they can lose both the item and the money if it’s long enough.

Open a return as it being damaged or not as described. They have 3 full business days to cover the return, afterwhich you can escalate the case where itll go on hold for 5 calendar days and give the seller their last warning to send you a return label or you’ll get refunded regardless

Ummmmm no you need to contact eBay because they need to print a return label everything needs to be done with in eBay not outside, because if you print it outside , from eBay’s perspective, you never printed a return label you just want your money back and keep the device. So make sure you print with the eBay application.
