Getting ready to go to a medical appointment soon, but when I get back this afternoon, I’m debating on what I should do first: rethread my #overlocker, #coverstitch & domestic #sewing machines (10 threads + a bobbin), or cut out the #fabric for my wife’s pyjamas? @sewing
I decided to start with #cutting, that way I have #fabric scraps available for testing #stitches immediately after I rethread the machines.
Sometimes I take too long deciding what kind of marking tool to use (chalk, marker, soap, soapstone, chacoliner, wax, water soluble pen, heat pen, etc.) but for this project it was an easy decision: blue chaco liner (Clover) around the hard oak tag #pattern edges. #sewing @sewing
Once everything is all traced out, I weigh the pros and cons of different #cutting tools: #scissors/shears, manual rotary cutters, electric #fabric cutter, etc. It depends on what I’m cutting (both the fabric & the #pattern/project itself) and sometimes I end up using more than one.
This time, since it’s lots of long cuts with mostly soft curves, I opted to use my fabric cutter for everything except the front crotch curve where I used my fabric scissors. Very quick and accurate! #sewing @sewing
