Honestly, every single time I start the deck, I think gosh, that backlight bleed is really something…

And as usual as soon as I play I don’t care.

I don’t need/want and oled but there are much nicer ips out there, this one is borderline acceptable tbh. Can’t blame anyone for wanting to upgrade, personally I’d ve upgraded to a superb ips, no question.

Like the poster gets at…can we stop for a sec and appreciate just how awesome the discussion we get to have is of deciding between a decent/good screen or a REALLY good screen on our very reasonably priced handheld backlog machines. Absolutely awesome.

Why is it so bad to say for the people who bought a deck within the last year, they sort of got fucked over by the oled dropping with 3 major perks over the default base launch deck :/ feels like a slap on the face

Indeed, I’m thankful of not getting it then, but I also empathize with fellow players who did

My take on it is that it’s a great purchase if you don’t already own a steam deck. I don’t understand why everyone’s gotta yell at each other when we all love the same product.

I’m just happy a new version came out right as I’ve been preparing to jump into the handheld arena. I was holding off to see what kind of deals might be happening around Black Friday. For me the extra battery life is actually more of a selling point than anything.

I purchased my husband the LCD version for Christmas. It arrived 3 weeks ago, and is outside the window of return. To say I’m bummed is an understatement. If I had known there was going to be any updated deck coming this year, I would have tried to get that instead.

Yup which more than likely means you bought it in the sale right, i feel for you guys the most it was real shitty to do a large upgrade and a large price drop right after that everybody would have bought instead if given the chance.

Everyone with a LCD Steam Deck wants the OLED one, EVERYONE!

It’s just better in every way.

It’s not just an OLED upgrade tho. I mean, who doesn’t want longer battery life?

I haven’t really seen it to be honest. All I’ve read is how any steam deck is a good steam deck. This sub is great for that.

I don’t even care about the screen, I normally use it as a portable PC so I can play on my living room.

Currently re playing Subnautica, I played it when the game was beta, could not even finish the game.

And now it is very, very polished and looks amazing on the deck.

Instead of spending $500 on a new Deck I’m spending $200 on upgrades to my current Deck. 1TB SSD, 1TB microSD, Hall effect thumbsticks, etc.

I kinda wish we could standardize Mini-LED displays. They give you OLED like quality with zero risk of burn in, and they tend to offer more peak brightness for HDR content.

But I can’t wait to switch to the new Steam Deck OLED, anytime I picked up my Switch OLED after playing on the current Steam Deck, I am always wishing I could transplant the screen.
