This is a bit painful to see. With the clear Pro/HEDT separation, coming from the TRX40 boards, everything is a step down on TRX50. Fewer memory slots, fewer PCIe slots in many cases, no dual 10g lan (10+2.5 across the board), audio solution is worse…
Price is going to dictate a lot here, but if they charge the same or more than what they did for typical TRX40 boards, it’s going to sting; especially knowing full well that “pro” moniker is going to add a substantial markup on its own.
…So basically, as a prosumer you don’t even get 8 RAM slots anymore on HEDT? Kind of a joke.
x90 should have 8 slots in the future
DDR5 has 265GB RDIMM’s, and if you need more the PRO Boards have 8 RDIMM’s.
Lvl 1 tech video on this type of product is far far better. Wendell knows his stuff
This is the only video I could find of his on the new Threadripper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ll6bXzlHvU
He doesn’t really talk about the motherboard lineup though.
Hopefully, he’ll do a video soon.
