Actual Apple TV maybe? Then again that would conflict with the Vision Pro kind of.
Hopefully 4K TV shows you can buy on iTunes and free upgrades for HD purchases of 4K versions exist. It’s about time if you ask me.
Hopefully the ability to choose to send the audio signal out in 5.1 pcm as opposed to the ridiculous 2.1 or Atmos situation we’re currently dealing with.
If they eventually put the m-series chips in them, then it will have potential someday.
If they continue putting 3 year+ iPhone chips in them, it will never gain traction.
Gaming console is the only sensible option, I’d be interested in an Apple console to rival the big three.
yeah sony needs more competition in the console space and i think apple can do it
Apple would need to define what identity in gaming they want to have, apple tv box isn’t that popular so i doubt devs would be compelled to port games for it even tho its as powerful as a nintendo switch they would lack the exclusives
Masters of the Air in January.
Apple will have to convince enough AAA game devs to support existing m-series Macs before it could convince customers to pay $350+ for an Apple TV Pro with m3.
Nobody will pay that price when the hardware (m3) is powerful about the same as Xbox series S and cost around the same, but without a promised lineup of AAA games and a huge library.
Apple has a huge advantage in mobile chips over the competition but it doesn’t help a bit against the consoles.
Passthrough audio with bit perfect playback. To be completely honest, I think even Apple own Homepods speakers (specially the big ones, which support Dolby Atmos), would benefit from it, audio quality wise, when set up in home theater mode as Apple TV speakers, something that Apple is promoting very heavily these days…
It shouldn´t be the case, but I believe that Apple current implementation of a fixed 24 bit/48khz LPCM audio output for tvOS is detrimental to the overall sound quality. It tend to sound flat and low compared with devices that support bitstream/passthrough, and I dont know why.
Actual Apple TV maybe?
I’d settle for just being able to get lossless/hi res audio out of the device without conversion or modification of the sound.
You can get lossless from Apple Music on an Apple TV but it’s limited to 24bit at 48kHz.
The hardware needs an M chip and ability to offer better 4K video and audio to close the gap between blu-ray. Also the streaming service needs some major draw like Formula One, Rugby etc (NBA and NFL are too big imo)
I think first and foremost they need an official Apple controller that ships with an AppleTV. It’s great that it supports all the rest but the user experience with them varies wildly.
Would be awesome if they partnered with Rock Band developers to bring it to Apple TV. Release the whole instrument set and have it tied to Apple Arcade and/or Apple Music library. I miss those GH/RB style games. Would be an awesome feature for the Apple TV
How about your fix the apple tv remote app so I can use it to control volume on my receiver for more than 4 days before it craps it again
