Perimeter defense would obviously be a big problem, but at the same time it would be near impossible to score at the rim. And they would get so many rebounds.
Dame: 6’2
Middleton: 6’7
Portis: 6’11
Giannis: 6’11
Lopez: 6’11
With the amount of defensive range given their length they should just play zone to cover up the area of the court.
Back in the day the Blazers used to do the same. We could run some insanely large lineups since Pip could play point, Sheed could play SF, and Sabonis was massive and could shoot threes.
You listed one 7 footer you fool
Lopez is one of the few players in the league who’s undoubtedly well over 7-feet tall and you list him as the same height as Portis, who’s nowhere near 7-feet.
They ran Khris,Giannis, Ersan, Mirotic & Brook one game
That’s actually crazy
LMAO, this is some 2K shit
If we just gonna lie about heights (Portis listed at 6’10”, he’s not 7 ft) then yeah they have three 7 footers
That’s a hypothetical lineup but against either NY or Philly the C’s ran a front court of Porzingis, Horford, and Hauser with a backcourt of Tatum and White (maybe it was Holiday). It was enormous and they all played behind the arc.
If you want to match hypothetical lineups I suppose Tingus Pingus, Kornet, and Al upfront, Tatum and Dalano Banton in back. Going from memory that would be 7’3", 7’2", 6’9", 6’8", and 6’8". Banton would be the worst from behind the arc.
Did you just come to this realization now when all three have been on the team for years
Just say “one of the biggest lineups” and take out “3 7-footers”. Not that big of a deal OP lol
They will dwarf the Dubs
The Nuggets ran a starting lineup in the bubble with 5 (near) 7-footers, with Jokic playing PG.
Jokic, Bol Bol, Millsap, Jerami Grant and and Mason Plumlee.
Kobe’s lakers ran a 3 headed monster with 6’10 Odom 7’ gasol and 7’ Bynum
Yea I remember that team, the 2-peat Lakers. It was a crazy defensive team with Kobe and Ariza as well in '08-'09.
And that’s before the floor was really spaced too
Perimeter defense would obviously be a big problem
Which is why it’s a silly hypothetical. The court doesn’t just consist of outside and inside. Once Portis gets beat the whole defense breaks down, and the offense can pick how to take advantage of that.
I feel pretty confident they run that lineup a couple times just to see what they have. It’s not a lineup you can run every game or team, but there are definitely matchups where they can.
For example, against the Heat. Jimmy and Bam can’t shoot 3’s so you’re relying on players like Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, and Duncan Robinson to hit shots to win. And smaller teams like the Heat would just get absolutely bullied on the boards and have a tough time on defense as well.
The Celtics potential big lineup would be much bigger
Holiday 6’5
Tatum 6’8
Porzingus 7’3
Kornet 7’2
Queta 7’
It’ll probably never happen, but the potential is there.
