Note: Plus/minus for individual games is a questionable stat in terms of evaluating comprehensive, long term individual player impact. It merely indicates when teams performed well or poorly in a particular matchup and a particular game, which at a minimum speaks to a particular configuration performing or not against another team. This can speak to when a team won the game, which can be interesting and I do find interesting. Did they create a lead with their bench or did they create a lead with their starters?
For example, the numbers from last night suggest Jokic outplayed his minutes against AD, and this was important, and that Yuta and Jordan over-delivered in their role player capacity off the bench.
Nuggets defeat Lakers by 12.
- Nikola Jokic (+15)
- Gabe Vincent (-17)
- Anthony Davis (-17)
Suns defeat Warriors by 4.
- Yuta Wantabe (+7)
- Jordan Goodwin (+7)
- Andrew Wiggins (-22)
I hope Wiggins doesn’t go back to floating through games like a 2 year old picking grass in AYSO soccer
Wiggins was very good defensively last night even with the +/-, did a very good job on KD and solid on a team level but offensively…it’s just one game but he has been very up and down since his return at the end of last season and he’s simply gotta be better on that end. He missed 2-3 layups and also had that huge turnover on the strip by Gordon in the 4th. Looked really out of sorts and rhythm.
Lakers guard play has a spotlight on it this season. Game One was didn’t provide the answer Lakers fans were looking for. Let’s see what Game Two brings.
I was so disappointed in Wiggins, didn’t get his 17 pts, got 1 rebound, hoping it’s just rusty-ness and he’ll ramp up having missed over half the season last year.
I think AD’s problem was that he only played when Jokic played. Definitely bad for your +/-
