Still think he should have gone down to west ham, or championship, this resurgence will be but a blip I imagine.

Yeah, the dude is never scared to ask for the ball either (to his detriment sometimes), which is probably why he was given the captaincy.

100%. A lot of players would have crumpled, he’s kept his head up (literally) and is determined to play for club and country. Insane mentality.

For sure, Slabby is a total Chad when compared to someone like Sancho. Everyone was shitting on him and he goes and celebrates that goal against Albania, just hilarious as a neutral

Nonsense. He wasn’t great for the past 2-3 years. The way he was kicked out was wrong, not the decision itself

Since the 2018 WC, to be brutally honest. He was terrible in the WC, and apart from one season where he was very good, he was below average to terrible on the rest.

You could see how much it meant to him to have the fans singing his name during the post match interview, after all the stick he’s been given. It’s great to see him have a resurgence, and long may it continue.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just United fans criticizing him, especially recently. Everyone in the sport has been shitting on him for so long.

Yeah but shitting on your rivals players when they’re doing bad is part of the game shitting on your own players when they’re doing bad is just being a bad supporter

Rashford gets criticized. De gea got criticized. Bruno does get criticized. It’s the life of a footballer. Equal praise and equal criticisms. The criticisms Maguire has gotten is well and truly deserved. Just because he’s playing well NOW doesn’t erase YEARS of bad performance.

I think this probably should have the move all along, embrace the shit you’re given. Self-depreciation is a great disarming tool.

If everyone on the team had this man’s mentality we wouldn’t be half as shite as we are. He literally never lets his head dip, absolutely unbreakable.

What a man. Got dog’s abuse from his own fans and his manager basically told the press he wasn’t needed, and now he’s saving their season and the manager’s job.
