How about the best players play for the best teams and if those players happen to not be white then so be it

“Arsenal statement: “We acknowledge our current women’s first-team squad does not reflect the diversity that exists across the club and the communities we represent. Increasing participation among young women and girls from diverse backgrounds is a key priority for us””

Context for all the people just coming here to comment without reading the article.

It’s a good initiative, and making football accessible to all is something we should all be supportive of. COYG ❤️

Arsenal have always been known for being a very diverse club, so I can see why it’s strange to see that in 2023 we have an all-white squad. Props for them addressing it even though they didn’t need to

I know, none of these snowflakes bothered to read the article, they just got mad at the word diversity and posted dumb comments.

I’ve never understood shoe horning diversity in for the sake of appearances. This is nothing but a disservice to everyone involved, including the poor women they drag in so that they look better during photos.

This article references an interview with an actual Player, but none of you clowns will read it.

I mean I get the problem. It’s an issue. But it’ll put an insane amount of pressure on any Bame players that do join

Lmao at the people complaining about the club saying “we need to make our academy more accessible for the community we represent,” which is a perfectly valid criticism.

Like, did you read the article? They didn’t say “sorry everyone is white, we’ll do better next year.” They acknowledged a shortcoming at youth level.

It is insane that there are three swedes but no latinamerican, no african, no asian. U telling me could not find one colombian, jamaican or japanese that would be good in this team???

I think it’s important to make a distinction here. Yes, there is a lack of racial diversity but not all diversity. There are different nationalities and upbringings in the team which blend cultures.

Race is important but it isn’t the be all and end all of diversity.

Good they acknowledge the lack of diversity but hopefully they have a plan that will offer other ethnicities a real pathway to top level football. Bigh level accessibility and visibility for this demographic has always been huge hurdles and what used to be the working person’s game has turned into a sport for those of means

They already have plenty of nationalities there. Have they check how diverse a club can be in asia or africa?
