Odegaard’s form is a bit worrying imo. Hasn’t looked right in most of the games he’s played this season.

Tomi, Rice, Trossard played well, Martinelli was good better than his rating, everyne else played subpar. Jesus, Zinny and Ode played diabolical.

        Zinny should never have started.

I said it pre match the game isn’t suited to him, because Chelsea will have a strong packed midfield and leave no space.

He will get pressured and do nothing.

Zinchenko had multiple good games against strong packed midfields last season lol

he is one of if not our most press resistant player who is upvoting this muck lol

I wonder what games these people watch honestly. Can they point us to many good performances we’ve had in the last 14 months without Zinny at LB? Our level drops significantly when he’s out…

I noticed it even last season but people genuinely don’t understand what his role in the team is and how difficult it is to perform as well as he has done

I agree Zinchenko’s an important player, but he’s seemed a bit out of form in the past few games this year. Misplacing passes and losing the ball at a higher rate. I dont think he is spectacular at defending on the wing, especially with how he positions. So if he is not contributing to maintaining possession in the midfield then I dont see him doing much to help the team. He probably needs to play through this rough patch, but I think Zinny’s form has been one of the differences between this year and last.

I think many people don’t even notice any tactics used during games. Multiple people I know IRL have no idea what I’m talking about when I mention Zinchenko being an inverted LB who basically plays CM when we have possession.

Depends on the midfield, someone like city it isn’t bad because they aren’t as physical or in your face.

But against Liverpool I wouldn’t trust him, same with Chelsea away.

If Newcastle play with tonali Bruno and long staff, it’s another away game I wouldn’t trust him in.

He was the best player on the pitch at home to Newcastle last year where all they did was come there to kick us with a strong packed midfield and leave no space

And we would’ve never been 2-0 up at Anfield without his calming presence on the ball in the early stages of the match

I agree, but home and away are different stories and how the match is officiated.

We get no calls away from home and little fouls teams get away with.

Liverpool away we could see the tie turning long before it did, and that’s when Arteta needs to make the change.

Obviously the coaching staff know more then us, I wouldn’t have started him or Vieria against Everton but we controlled and won that comfortably.

I’m sure they was a game plan that just didn’t work due to various reasons.

and Jorge can’t be starting games

Literally hilarious how dumb this comment is. Coming off of a very good performance vs the best club in the world literally 2 weeks ago.

Chelsea packed the midfield with 6 which was always going to make it difficult to play through the middle, especially when they score off a pen 10 mins into the game and can sit back.

We did not move the ball quickly enough to the wings, and when we did, our wingers did not dominate the 1v1 battles.

Saka was kicked for 70 minutes and couldn’t do much and on the other side Martinelli was 1v1 against Gusto about 10 times but could only manage kicking it off him for a corner.

Far too high a rating for the ref, he was awful especially after Trossard’s goal.

Killed our momentum entirely with his stupid calls.

    This is a joke.

Declan was losing duels he usually wins. Gets a 7? Gabi made huge positioning mistakes - 6? Zinchenko does a couple of bad passes - 4? And Tomiyasu gets a 7 for essentially being on the pitch. I don’t get it. Are you guys high or something? Jesus, while not achieving much was doing his job but with no midfield support, he can’t do much - less than 5. What’s this?

Chelsea performance 6.44? They played their best game in a very long time. Had tactical and performance superiority for 70+ minutes. A bit above average.

A lot of people harshly criticising Jorginho in my opinion. He got the ball forward as best he could in the first half. It’s not his fault players in more advanced positions (Jesus, Saka, Odegaard) kept losing the ball and making sloppy passes. Jorginho created our best chance in the first half with the ball over the top to Jesus as well.

Second half he was able to thread the ball through a compact Chelsea midfield only for Jesus to lose it. He also made several recoveries and interceptions before getting dragged off. The reason we improved going forward has nothing to do with Jorginho coming off, but the fact that Chelsea were two up and dropped back several yards.

I’m not saying Jorginho was great, but Jesus, Odegaard, Zinchenko and White were worse in my opinion. Raya also dropped a clanger, but no-one is disputing that.

100%. It’s ridiculous. I feel like people don’t even watch the games.

They just parrot “Jorginho needs to progress the ball through the middle”.

As you said, he did it fine, Zinchenko and Odegaard were horrendous and almost always lost it immediately after.

And when they weren’t losing the ball, we often vacated the entire middle of the pitch and tried to exploit the wings, we just didn’t do it well enough.

I want someone to go through the film and point out just 3 instances of there being a pass available through the middle and Jorginho turning it down. They won’t be able to find it.
