My husband has his own home lab and has been wanting a server rack for ages. We just got into our first house and now we have the space to do so. I have picked up on some of the tech over the years but I am just unsure on what brands to really look out for. I was originally going to get him a server rack from sysracks but when I was googling to see if they do black Friday deals I found this subreddit and the posts about poor quality. I do know a list of requirements and what he is going to put into it.
He has a dell r720 and several ubiquiti switches and a gateway that are all rackable. I don’t think his Synology nas would go in there (letting my I don’t know enough shine here). I know he would like it to be enclosed and be on casters. The options to either have fans or add fans himself for air flow would be great. He also has a few raspberry pies and a little kit to rack those once he can.
Any suggestions on what to look for would be great! I was thinking getting a new one may be better then a used one as there aren’t very many used ones in my area and I don’t have a means to pick them up easily. Plus have of the ones I am finding are not deep enough to fit the server. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
