Odegaard is one of the few players I’ve seen that actually uses skill moves purely for efficiency and not for showing off. All the chops, drags, and spins, are always to create maximal space.

What hyper reactionary fans would say that and with just a handful of games this season they are calling for player’s heads? It’s easy to see ever since the first league game that he is playing deeper. The change after the Fulham game (Partey to White as RB) allowed him to move up the field with more support but I think his and the team’s emphasis now is on pressing and to gain better control of games which means they are not as attacking as last season so he wasn’t able to show his creative best. He still got decent G+A numbers though so not really bothered by it. The midfield have been tweaked a lot so I expect adjustments by the players in terms of how the play vs last season.
