Giving someone an advantage does not equal make them win. But both can be corruption.

So you’re fine with referees earning money off of the same institution that the Shitty owner is vice president and deputy prime minister for?

Would you be fine with the vice president of the USA buying a Premier League club, being part owner of the MLS, then paying the referees to officiate in the MLS? That’s literally what’s going on here. The fact that it is an Arab country involved has nothing to do with the point I’m making.

You’re missing the point so hard it’s hilarious.

It is a common business practice in literally any other professional industry- why are referees subject to a higher standard than paid consultants for example?

Answer my question please: Would you be fine with the vice president of the USA buying a Premier League club, being part owner of the MLS, then indirectly paying the referees to officiate in the MLS?

Does consultants usually regulate/oversee/govern two organizations up against each other?

This. PL takes the best players from across the globe why not take the best referees too? Seems like a no brainer and at least they won’t have as much of a Manchester bias ffs lol

Your analogy doesn’t make sense. The PIF is a publicly backed state fund so your point about the vice president makes 0 parallel with it.

Consultants work for whomever pays them- so the short answer is yes. Also what organizations are against each other? The PL and the Saudi League? Again a dumb comparison

I get it, you’re slow. ‘organizations’ was the football clubs. Let’s say Shitty and Pool so that it’ll be easier for you.

Your consultant and referee comparison is bad.

If you owned an organization and your rival organization were under regulation by a third party(PGMOL), would you want a person who was getting paid by your rival organization to do the regulation?

Tell tale sign of a weak argument is when the ad hominems comes out. Grow up mate.

Referees are much closer to consultants in this scenario than to whatever absurd comparison you made to the vice president lolol. Referees are paid by the FA and organized as PGMOL. A referee, in their own time, taking a part time gig for another refereeing body is almost exactly what hourly consultants do.

City does not pay the referees salary in the PL, the fucking FA does. The referee being paid by the Saudi league or whatever league pays them is not City paying them. Go touch grass and stop being so conspiratorial.

LOL, says you??? You were the first one to drag the racism card into this discussion. When there were nothing racist about it.

And yeah, no. A referee taking a payment from a league that is partly owned by the same owner that owns City is not questionable for you? Then we have nothing more to discuss. Keep being naive, ignorance is bliss.

It’s not corruption. It’s just the fear of looking like an idiot - everyone already thinks they’re idiots so it’s no loss to them.

Corruption is a form of dishonesty(!) or a criminal offence  which is undertaken by a person or an organization which is entrusted in a position of authority, in order to acquire illicit benefits or abuse power for one’s personal gain. Corruption may(!) involve many activities which include bribery, influence peddling and embezzlement and it may also involve practices which are legal in many countries.

Where is the evidence of corruption other than your conspiracy theories?
If there’s corruption we’d be investigating payments not asking for VAR to be used better.

But we’re not talking about players. You’re saying the refs have been given payments to ensure Man City win. Are we now going to check the refs outgoing payments to see if they handed that money back since clearly they never helped Man City win?

They don’t want the scrutiny because it would force them to do the job right. You even heard on the Diaz goal audio, people throwing around compliments and patting each other on the back. Both on and off the field.

They want a laugh with their mates and get away with saying whatever they want. I wouldn’t be against paying refs more and stopping shit like trips to Dubai to ref games but they need to step up massively in professionalism too. It wasn’t that long ago we had refs overweight and unfit to keep up with play still doing the job at the highest level.
