I suspect that big names like Deadpool and Wolverine will probably still get butts in the seats. But I’m not sure it will change the general burnout I hear people have been having with the superhero movie genre.
Though… I might be a biased. Personally I never really got the appeal of going to see all these superhero movies that were getting released.
A superhero movie every now and then is fun, but I’ve always thought that Marvel was overdoing it quite a bit with the sheer quantity of them. It’s not superhero fatigue. That’s dumb.
All they need is an actual good movie for it to be the biggest marvel movie in a long time. The fatigue comes from boiling it down to a formula they kept repeating instead of allowing for talent to have their own voice.
Exactly. They stopped making good movies.
Well, in this one the talent had a big hand in bringing this whole movie together, didn’t they? RR helped write it, he executive produced it, his production company, Maximum effort is producing it. His chosen yes-man director is directing. I work in the production world, he’s a major creative power.
I agree. I would happily pay for a movie ticket to watch something that had the spirit and intelligence of Logan or Joker, but I doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon. I’m tired of having my intelligence insulted.
I recently decided to rewatch all the Marvel movies, because I’m boring, and after Guardians it took a pretty big turn.
Going from the more gritty drama with some funny one liners ever so once in awhile, to let’s see how many one liners and nonchalant comedy we can put in.
Then after Endgame they ramped that shit up
let’s see how many one liners and nonchalant comedy we can put in
I feel like the character differences between the heroes have vanished. Now they’re all just Deadpool’s personality but with different powersets
Exactly! That’s what I saw as well. Like they saw how successful Deadpool was and thought we should do the same, just with less violence and vulgarity, and have them all be that way.
100%
I really liked guardians of the galaxy. There is something about the settings and colours and everything just feels right as a standalone movie. I rewatch it every now and then. All the other disney slop i usually turn off pretty soon, because i remember why they are bad. The last thor movies are especially weird, they are like a parody of a good movie. Love and thunder i think it was reminds me of that “meet the spartans” movie for some reason. I’m not even sure if i watched that one.
Yeah the last two were done by Taika Waititi, and if you’ve seen any of his other movies its on par with that directing style.
Imo Thor Ragnarok was the best standalone Thor movie, even if they completely changed the character.
The Love and Thunder one just felt like a repeat of Ragnarok in a lot of ways.
As much as I’m quite excited to see this film, should we really listen to a studio head promoting his own film? 😄
Hey guys remember how bad our movies are? Yeah, this one is shit too, but please watch it anyway.
Well… I’m REALLY fucking excited for it. Absolutely loved Deadpool 1 & 2. I’m probably going to see this three times when it comes out.
But turn around the slump? Doubt it. Not on its own. It can’t hope to fix the deeper problems Marvel created for itself, like overextending on the TV shows.
Marvel basically needs to die and be reborn. And despite what the trailer says, I don’t think Deadpool’s their Jesus.

South Park nailed the Disney ‘panderverse’ perfectly. Deadpool movies are usually the opposite of that.
I’m interested in the movie and plan to watch it eventually but I have no desire to ever enter a movie theater again. The experience just sucks compared to home. Sorry Hollywood.
You’re 98% right but every now and again it’s still worth it, at least in IMAX; Dune and Dune 2 for example were absolutely incredible.
Nissan al gabe
I did not care for dune.
I thought the same thing. I’ll watch it at home when i’m in the mood, then i can turn it off and do something else when it blows.
The bar is set pretty low lately. I think it will be fun if they kept the producer/studio interference down.
Nope
Didn’t wolverine kill dead pool in the last movie they were in?
Did you see the stinger after Deadpool 2? They handled that issue by showing it’s a different Deadpool.
Nope.
Wasn’t that weapon X? Is he colonically Deadpool? I didn’t read much of the comic.
I don’t think butt-stuff really comes into it.
Its dead pool. Its literally the same actor too. It was his first marval movie
Deadpool wouldn’t die from mere decapitation in fairness but yeah…I think it’s ‘alternative reality deadpool’ (lazy writing)
Mere decapitation?
Apparently he can go down to a single cell 🤷
Well that’s one way to do taxidermy of yourself.
Wait, his body grows back new skin with his old scars still visible?
I’m not gonna rewatch it right now, but IIRC there’s either a mid- or post-credit scene wherein the decapitated head opens its eyes and looks at the camera. Cutting his head off would not kill Deadpool, for crying out loud!
