They’re playing for far right votes but it’s an extremely dangerous one and they’re refusing to retract their statements to essentially invade PRC claimed territory. The new PM also pissed off South Korea with their claims on the Dokdo islands.
She also tried to emulate Trump and call for a meeting with Kim to ‘warm relations’ but the DPRK responded with ‘Japan needs to pay its debt in blood for its crimes’ lol.
Japan has been rearming themselves and boosting their offensive capabilities for a number of years now, perhaps another sign of the US’ decline loosening the leash on its rabidly imperialist colony.
Given that Japan is a resource poor island that imports most of its food and fuel, it’s not really clear how they plan to revive militarism. China could just blockade them and it would be over in weeks.
Wonder what the thought process is for the rabidly fanatical ones, unless they’re thinking their “allies” in the Philippines or Oceania will help them conquer the region again…
If they’re that level delusional Japan is headed for some bad times.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the actual intent of Japan’s remilitarization is to just bully South Korea for islands.
