A former Welsh Labour MP has slammed the party for parachuting two candidates with no connection to Wales into safe Labour seats.
Earlier today Nation.Cymru revealed that a think tank boss and a former Starmer aide have been selected as Welsh Labour general election candidates.
Think tank chief and former Labour aide Torsten Bell has been selected as Welsh Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Swansea West, while executive director of legal affairs for the Labour Party, Alex Barros-Curtis, was selected for Cardiff West.
Obviously I have no idea of context and I am a publicly educated american…buuuuut, I don’t envision anyone ever being actually “slammed”. A mere series of words strung together is never enough to equate being slammed. Even when it is high-stakes political intrigue. If you ever played full-contact sports or been in a car accident, you might agree. Being slammed or slamming someone bodily is completely visceral, primal, and unforgettable. Comparing political arguements and hypocrisies is like describing FPS video games as actual war. There is no reality in that. And, it’s lazy fucking writing.
We’ve been writing this way for 100 years or more. It’s called headlinese. When you see “slammed” you’re supposed to think, “Ah, slammed. A short word indicating strong disagreement.”

But then again, we’re more sensitive towards media control and all that. More understanding of how slant does things to people.
