Tell your republican friends/colleagues/whatever that solar panels are a good thing because they let Jesus into our lives.

Hopefully that will accelerate the green energy revolution.

It obviously is. As is solidarity, welfare and just being nice. Sadly, none of the self-proclaimed evangelical “Christians” are.

I especially enjoy when “Christians” try to justify all this by cherry picking weird bible verses and ignoring any that contradict them.

“See! Jesus was a capitalist after all!!”

      Costs down is good.

Flooding the market and selling them well below what is economically viable and driving the rest of the world out of the business so they can gain a stranglehold on the industry is bad.

It’s a shockingly capitalist move tbh.

China in its current form is fairly capitalist - they are socialist in name only. This isn’t shocking if you remember that.

I guess it could depend on if their government is subsidizing the cost then more governments can do that, or if they are exploiting labour’s, or a mix of the two

          No.

They’re literally producing more panels than the market can handle.

They are creating panels that go unsold which is driving the price down.

Price going down is a good short term thing HOWEVER they’re also destroying any competition (which generally is considered bad in basically any economic system) by doing so. The assertion is that china is deliberately driving competition out of business so they can corner the market.

Prices going down is very very good.

Prices being artificially held down so a market can be cornered is not good even if it had that initial short term positive result.

This isn’t about economies this is about having a robust supply chain which is important for everyone, if we have to rely on china then we are beholden to china. It is this last point that has China acting the way they do.

            I disagree.

this is about having a robust supply chain which is important for everyone

It is not. If we buy solar panels today, and the supply chain crashes tomorrow, that won’t bother us at all. Solar panels are a very durable product, and once bought, can last at least 20 years. So we would have more than enough time to find a proper replacement. So, having unreliable supply chains is not a problem with solar panels.
