So what makes this better then GitLab or GitTea?
It’s a fork of Gitea, because Gitea is being dumb: https://forgejo.org/faq/#why-was-forgejo-created
Ah, interesting.

Yeah, I just love that they added GH actions compatible CICD.
Oh I didn’t know that. I’ve been trying to find a selfhosted runner and toyed with Drone and several other things and none of it panned out. Would you be so kind as to provide a link?
https://docs.gitea.com/usage/actions/overview Drone was a pain, this seems muchhhh easier.
Thanks. I think I tried setting this up at one point but will try again.
What’s wrong with gitlab?
The insane amount of resources it chugs like there’s no tomorrow for one. That’s the only reason I’m not hosting an heptapod instance.
It’s a beast. If you need enterprise dev feature set, it’s amazing for what you get for free. But it’s a resource hog.
Cool! There is also https://codeberg.org/, which I recently learned about.
In fact, they are the owners: https://forgejo.org/faq/#who-owns-the-forgejo-domains-and-trademarks
The Forgejo domains are in the custody of Codeberg e.V. a non-profit based in Germany and dedicated to hosting Free Software projects since 2019. It is ultimately in control of Forgejo and its bylaws guarantee it will keep further the interest of the general public. No trademark was registered at this point in time.
Theory: the name was meant to be “Forge” in Esperanto, but someone missed an accent and now it says something closer to “distant homosexual”
So, is it federated?
That is still WIP
