You know, having not been well maintained post illegal dissolution of the USSR, it still actually looks alright. Not amazing but probably still would best being homeless by a long shot.

Not to mention specfically being shot in less than favorable conditions. Probably looks a lot nicer with better framing on a sunny day. It’s like whenever the BBC films in China and has to put their Oppression Filter over all the footage to make it look worse.

I think they look fine, and it sure as heck beats having to live on the street.

You should see the surprise in the eyes of post-soviet generations when they see renovated (or simply maintained) apartment blocks in, for example, Norway and learn they “could look good”

Depressing Eastern (asiatic, barely european) architecture

vs glorious western (proper white european) architecture! (This one was also taken on a nice day!)

I’m very cool and smart updoot me for deliberately trashing a poor income neighbourhood in a foreign country!

Just imagine being dragged kicking and screaming from your carboard boxes behind a dumpster by the local cadre and through the front door of one of these monstrosities. Staring despondently into the distance as the cadre official explains that they’ve drawn a warm bath for you, that there are fresh towels in the airing cupboard and she’ll leave the keys on the kitchen counter.

Imagine how worried you’d be if they did that to a family member.

Meanwhile, pompous glass and steel “minimalist” techbro McMansion shit that’s surrounded by private security forces is uplifting.

oh no, tree-filled parks between the houses! you could’ve put so much parking space there if not for the authoritarianism!
